Good Doggy
in remembrance
Forever 13 on June 5, 2026. Miss you girl. This poem is for you.
.
They’re all good doggies, aren’t they?
that pass before we do
Chase every ball and frisbee while we
ignore the things they chew?
.
Never was there a friend more loyal
Nor more attentive too
‘specially when the snacks came out
Who’s a good doggy, who?
.
Ears and tongues flapped in the wind
While running by our side
Or while their head was hanging out
As we went for a drive
.
And oh they loved the belly rubs
And tickles behind the ear
Defended us from every squirrel
And racoons that came near
.
So yeah, I’m gonna miss her when
It’s time for her to eat
And every trip in the truck I take
And see that empty seat
.
But don’t you fret now girl
For this is not goodbye
I’ll always have your memory
To see me through the night
.

What a beautiful tribute. You’ve captured so much of what makes saying goodbye to a good dog both heartbreaking and full of gratitude. Thank you for sharing her spirit with us.
Sorry for your loss, Roger. That was a beautiful tribute.
